Timeframe: Permanent

Location: Ottawa or work from home

Position Summary:

 

As a member of Pythian’s Marketing team, the Senior Product Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic plan for a specific product and services family. This person provides leadership through all stages of a product and service  family’s lifecycle. The preferred individual should have a passion for building innovative products in fast moving and high growth markets, a strong understanding of SaaS, Data and Analytics, with demonstrated experience for delivering marketable software solutions. This individual reports to the VP Marketing..

You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand real-world problems, and find innovative solutions for today and tomorrow’s challenges.

 

You must be able to communicate with all areas of our company utilizing agile methodologies and it is expected that you will be an internal as well as external evangelist.

 

As a Product Manager, you will:

  • Identify market opportunities, build business cases, and define product vision and strategy for new markets and current market expansion
  • Performs detailed competitive, financial, and market eco-system analysis
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, customers, and technology partners to deeply understand, document, analyze and synthesize customer needs plus Pythian strengths,  into product priorities, roadmap plans, and detailed specifications
  • Manage the entire product/service life-cycle from strategic planning to tactical execution including business case creation, offering definition, materials development, pricing, delivery readiness, sales training and the overall performance of the offering in the market.
  • Team with technology partners as it relates to their technology being leveraged as part of the product and service offerings.
  • Work with marketing to define the go-to-market strategy,  helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customers. Develop core content and messaging for marketing materials creation.
  • Serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product and services offering, occasionally working with industry analysts and influencers , and public speaking at Pythian and industry events
  • Engage key account field sales teams and channel partners to validate products and gain market insights to new requirements, creating tools to support the success, and helping to identify opportunities to increase that success



Connect with us if you have:

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience as a SaaS Product Manager, experience with data and analytics is ideal
  • Strategic leadership and strong business acumen
  • Experience with using the “Pragmatic Marketing” product management methods in a fast paced,  agile environment
  • Experience with building products and services for partners, resellers, managed services providers, and consulting companies
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex issues and opinions into simple stories
  • The desire to be in front of customers and prospects and the willingness to travel to meet with them
  • A need to be part of something that is fast paced and changing daily and the desire to do what it takes regardless of your job description to have your product succeed - which means that is is used by happy paying customers
